What is collagen?
Collagen is a protein that consists of three amino acids – Glycine, Lysine, Proline. 33% of the proteins in our body are collagen. Bone, muscles, tendons, and 75% of the skin are made of collagen. Collagen acts as an adhesive. It binds to the constituent components of bones, skin, and muscles and forms a healthy structure. Collagen keeps everything tight and in place. When collagen is missing we have sagging skin, wrinkles, hair loss, cellulite, digestive problems, joint pain, and more.

How to make homemade collagen from bones?
In organic stores you can find bone broth but how it is obtained you can not be sure. You can’t know what supplements they used to get it. And homemade is homemade!
What do you need for homemade collagen?
1. You need bones – chicken, beef, turkey, rabbit, or fish bones. I used beef bones.
2. Water
3. Some vegetables. The first time I didn’t add vegetables.
4. Slow cooker. You need to boil the bones for at least 12 hours.
Fill the slow cooker with the bones to the top. If there is no meat on the bones, the broth will have more minerals, if there is meat on the bones, it will have more amino acids. Fill a few fingers under the edge of the vessel with water. You can add onions, parsley, garlic, celery.
Let it boil at a low temperature. I boiled it at 60 degrees for 16 hours. Beef bones need between 12 and 72 hours of boiling. Fishbones need from 4 to 24 hours. Chicken bones need from 6 to 34 hours. Pork bones need from 12 to 48 hours. The more we cook, the more nutrients will come out of the bones
The broth shouldn’t be boiled at high temperatures because important ingredients will be destroyed.
After stopping it, let it cool. When it cools, remove the bones and pour into glass jars, but not to the top of the jar! Cool and freeze. When you place the jars in the freezer, try to place them upright and do not tighten the caps.
Drink one glass a day or even more. You can make soup from the broth.
It will be good to drink from it periodically for two months every day, twice a year. But it will be helpful to drink it when we want. Don’t wait to run out of collagen, you can cease the problem in time.
I will be honest with you when I first drank it I felt a certain sense of disgust. Honestly, it is not so tempting to drink water from the bones, but I drink it with pleasure when I remember the benefits!
