5 Reasons to Take off Your Shoes and Walk Barefoot

The Earth is a living being, just as we are. When we have a connection with the Earth we feel balanced, calm, confident, abundant, healthy, wealthy, powerful, worthy, strong, safe, and peaceful. When we don’t have a connection with the Earth we feel anxious, worried, restless, and in a state of scarcity and lack.

Root Chakra connects us to the Earth

The root chakra Muladhara is our connection with the Earth. The root chakra is the first chakra out of the seven. It’s responsible for how safe and secure you feel. It is located at the base of the spine, between the genitals and anus. Its color is red. Its element is Earth. When the root chakra is balanced we feel safe and that our basic needs are being met (job, food, shelter, clothing). When the root chakra is unbalanced we feel fear that our basic needs are not being met.

You can practice different ways to connect to and help to heal the root chakra.

You can try to spend more time in nature, dance, Hatha yoga, massages, growing roots from your feet, and walking barefoot more often.

Walking barefoot on the ground has proven benefits to our health. When you are walking barefoot on the grass, the dirt road, the sand, or even on the concrete sidewalk after rain, your feet come into direct contact with the earth’s surface and billions of bacteria and other beneficial microbes. Scientists have discovered that Earth’s negative potential literally ground us, similar to a wire for grounding an electric pole.

5 Reasons you should take off your shoes and walk barefoot

1. We can return the lost electrons in our bodies because of the attacks of free radicals.

All of the electronics and gadgets like radio, television, cell phones bomb us with electromagnetic waves. Mr. Adjei Quaye, health campaigner, and naturopath said that these waves affect our system and these electrons ionize the chemicals that enter the body and turn them to free radicals, which reduces the body’s immunity status. Our organs like kidneys, liver, are made from tissue and cells, which are made from molecules, atoms, nucleus, and electrons. From the electrons, is produced a magnetic force.

Our organs have a different amount of electrons, but the free radicals take some of them and our immune system gets weaker. When the immune system is attacked by free radicals, the body’s defensive mechanism is compromised. The question here is how to get back the lost electrons and charge our organs, so they would function properly.

The answer is to place our foot on the ground. Quaye revealed that when the foot is placed on the ground and following the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics, energy moves from one place to another, electrons begin to flow to occupy the places where there is a shortage. He said we should walk barefoot as long as possible to get a replacement of the lost electrons, which is synonymous with boosting the immune system.

The National Library of Medicine’s online resource PubMed lists 7021 studies and 522 review articles from a search of “antioxidant + electron + free radical”. It is assumed that the influx of free electrons absorbed into the body through direct contact with the Earth likely neutralize free radicals and thereby reduce acute and chronic inflammation.

2. Barefoot reduces the stress hormone cortisol.

A 2006 study published in the Journal of European Biology and Bioelectromagnetism found that after walking barefoot participants’ cortisol levels returned to normal.

Mounting evidence suggests that the Earth’s negative potential can create a stable internal bioelectrical environment for the normal functioning of all body systems. Moreover, oscillations of the intensity of the Earth’s potential may be important for setting the biological clocks regulating diurnal body rhythms, such as cortisol secretion.

How easy a way to get rid of stress and so affordable, but few people know it.

3. Improvements in sleep.

There are studies that showed walking barefoot and all kind of earthing practices will better people’s sleep.

A pilot study evaluated diurnal rhythms in cortisol correlated with changes in sleep, pain, and stress (anxiety, depression, and irritability), as monitored by subjective reporting. Twelve subjects with complaints of sleep dysfunction, pain, and stress were grounded to Earth during sleep in their own beds using a conductive mattress pad for 8 weeks.

Eleven of 12 participants reported falling asleep more quickly, and all 12 reported waking up fewer times at night. Grounding the body at night during sleep also appears to positively affect morning fatigue levels, daytime energy, and nighttime pain levels.

4. Reduction of pain and inflammation.

A blinded pilot study recruited 50 subjects (22 males and 28 females) who suffered from self-described sleep disturbances and chronic muscle and joint pain for at least six months.

The study involves indoor-testing methods under controlled conditions that simulate being barefoot outdoors.

Subjects were randomly divided for the month-long study in which both groups slept on conductive carbon fiber mattress pads. Half the pads were connected to a dedicated Earth ground outside each subject’s bedroom window, while the other half were “sham” grounded—not connected to the Earth.

Most grounded subjects described symptomatic improvement while most in the control group did not. Some subjects reported significant relief from asthmatic and respiratory conditions, rheumatoid arthritis, PMS, sleep apnea, and hypertension while sleeping grounded. These results indicated that the effects of earthing go beyond reduction of pain and improvements in sleep.

Reduction in inflammation as a result of earthing has been documented with infrared medical imaging and with measurements of blood chemistry and white blood cell counts. The logical explanation for the anti-inflammatory effects is that grounding the body allows negatively charged antioxidant electrons from the Earth to enter the body and neutralize positively charged free radicals at sites of inflammation. The flow of electrons from the Earth to the body has been documented.

5. Barefoot increases our energy.

The study showed that when the body is grounded, its electrical potential becomes equalized with the Earth’s electrical potential through a transfer of electrons from the Earth to the body.

The earth is like a huge charger whose charge never runs out. It is an established, though not widely appreciated the fact, that the Earth’s surface possesses a limitless and continuously renewed supply of free or mobile electrons. The planet’s surface is electrically conductive (except in limited ultradry areas such as deserts), and its negative potential is maintained (i.e., its electron supply replenished) by the global atmospheric electrical circuit.

We can increase our energy by connecting to the Earth every time we need it. The Earth’s energy is unlimited and if we learn how to use it, we can forget the pain.

The modern lifestyle separates humans from contact with the Earth. The research suggests that this disconnect may be a major contributor to physiological dysfunction and unwellness. Reconnection with the Earth’s electrons has been found to promote intriguing physiological changes and subjective reports of well-being.

Just take off your shoes and walk on the ground for a few minutes a day to absorb this beneficial electricity.
